Jotting #5

Last night (the 16th), I went to Shoufeng Night Market for dinner. After the meal, I stopped by the nearby PX Mart to buy some daily necessities. When I finished shopping and stepped outside, I noticed two groups of citizens with opposing views gathered at the entrance, each promoting their stance on the upcoming recall vote for the 11th Legislative member, scheduled for July 26, 2025.

After observing for a while, I saw that both groups had set up signs, handed out flyers, and engaged with passersby to promote their respective opinions. Occasionally, they even used megaphones to shout over one another, creating a somewhat tense atmosphere. Fortunately, no physical altercations occurred, and officers from the nearby police station were present to maintain order and prevent the situation from escalating.

It was a striking scene. In a democratic society, diverse voices and perspectives coexist. While opinions may differ sharply, expressing them within the boundaries of law and order is a hallmark of civic freedom. Dialogue is more constructive than confrontation, and mutual understanding is key to helping society mature in the face of disagreement and move forward together.
