[Thoughts] 2025 Applied Probability Seminar

Introduction

Probability and statistics are essential applications in mathematics. In our country, fundamental concepts and calculation methods of probability and statistics are introduced at the junior high school level. As students progress to senior high school and university, these skills become even more crucial for those in science and engineering disciplines. Whether in experimental design, data analysis, or hypothesis testing, probability and statistics play a vital role.

Seminar Participation Reflections

The 2025 Applied Probability Seminar provided an opportunity for academic experts, professors, and graduate students from different locations to discuss and present their research findings. Although I may not have been familiar with every speaker’s research field, the chance to engage with experts from various domains was an invaluable learning experience. Each presentation was highly informative, allowing me to review previously learned probability concepts, simulation methods, and discrete mathematics, while also exposing me to numerous new methods and applications I had never encountered before.

The seminar also covered topics related to artificial intelligence, particularly its operational principles. I strongly agree with the speaker’s perspective that artificial intelligence essentially operates by using models to compute and determine the best or most probable answers. This insight led me to associate AI with an advanced internet search system, capable of quickly finding relevant information using simpler keywords. This viewpoint deepened my understanding of AI development.

Conclusion

Through this seminar, I gained insight into various computational methods and principles that could enhance convenience in future applications. Mathematics is omnipresent in daily calculations and serves as a foundation for many scientific and technological advancements. I hope to transform the knowledge and perspectives acquired from this experience into inspiration for my research journey.
